6 Ways to Add Curb Appeal To Your Home

In this competitive real estate market, if you are selling your home, you need to do everything you can to set your house apart from the rest. With inventory still high in some areas, you need the buyers to remember you home.
Additionally, many potential buyers may never even see the inside of your house. Some will drive by, see the real estate sign in the yard, look at the house and decide right there if they will call anyone to get a showing of the inside. Others will be searching the MLS, see the exterior picture of the house (which is often the primary picture, especially on the MN MLS) and will also not bother to look any further and click onto the next listing.
Here are some easy tricks to adding curb appeal to your home that will get those potential buyers to come and see the rest of your beautiful house.
- Clean up the front door. If it has dents or scratches, paint it. Clean the glass every single day. Remove any nick-knacks such a wind chimes, gnomes, or other clutter. Buy a large potted healthy plant and replace your welcome mat.
- Clean up the yard. Rake up the leaves. Cut and fertilize the grass (often)-even consider hiring a service while you are selling you home. Water the grass every night to get and keep in very green. If you home is near water, such as Lake Minnetonka homes, clean up the beach.
- Give your home a bath. Just like cars, houses get dirty. Use a power washer or hose to remove the grime and dust that accumulates. Also wash down the driveway and sidewalks while you are at it.
- Park the extra vehicles somewhere else. If you have 3 cars, but only a 2 car garage, bring the 3rd card somewhere else or park it down the street.
- Remove any yard distractions. This can include kids toys, garden statues, hose reels, or anything else that detracts from the front look of you house.
- Plant some color and green. If your shrubs are more than 10 years old, they may need to be either trimmed back or replaced. Add more mulch or rock to the landscaping. Plant flowers in either baskets or in your flower bed. Change them often to keep them looking fresh.
These are just some simple ways to improve the curb appeal of your house and help it sell faster to the right buyer.
